Yes. If you’d like to change programs in the middle of your term please email email@example.com and tell us which program you’d like to begin.
Our weightlifting program is designed for athletes that want to compete in the sport of weightlifting. This program will develop your strength, explosive power and technique necessary to excel in the snatch and clean & jerk. You’ll need basic weightlifting equipment (squat stand, Olympic weightlifting bar, bumper plates and ideally pull / jerk blocks).
The speed program is specifically designed for athletes who want to get faster. We all know that in sport, speed kills. This program will make you faster regardless of whether you’re a track and field athlete, football player or soccer player. To do the program you’ll need access to a weight room, basic plyometric equipment, enough free space to sprint at least 40m, and 90-120 minutes to train each day.
Your program incorporates the same training philosophies, means and methods that we use at Athletic Lab with our on-site athletes. There will be differences based on equipment availability and facility limitations but your program is otherwise very much the same as what we use with our elite and professional athletes.
The program is compete as is to meet the stated goals of the program. We do not recommend adding any additional training to what is already in the program. Recovery is critical to get the most out of your training and adding additional training could compromise the training effect.
The time to complete each day’s training will range from 75 minutes to 2.5 hours. The exact timing of each day’s training is dependent on the program and the day. Some programs, like our weightlifting and jumps program, tend to be 75-90 minutes. Other programs, like our speed program, can take as long 1.5-2.5 hours to complete several days each week.
Your program will require a commitment of 5-6 days of training per week. Typically, we program Sunday and sometimes Wednesday as complete days of rest.
We design our training to not only enhance performance but reduce the likelihood of injuries. To this end, we do our best to make sure the programming is appropriately progressed to be as safe as possible. That said, injuries do happen to even the best athletes under the best training. If this happens we offer several options:
- Athletic Lab Online will provide a free consultation with one of our expert coaches who will work provide “Plan B” training options.
- We can place your account on hold.
All our memberships require a 12 week minimum commitment. When you sign up, your credit card is automatically placed on auto-pay and you will be billed for your first of 3 payments. The following two payments will be automatically paid at the start of week 5 and 9. If you wish to cancel after the 12 week minimum, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org at least 10 days prior to your next auto-payment to let us know to cancel your subscription going forward.
Dr. Mike Young programs the speed and weightlifting programs. Mike is a world renowned coach and has produced athletes who have competed nationally and internationally in both weightlifting and track & field. The jumps program is designed by John Evans, MS. John is an experienced coach who has specialized in helping athletes from a variety of sports to jump higher. You will have an entire support staff at your disposal to assist with your training.
The exact start of each program varies. All programs will begin on a Monday. In some cases, there is a hard start date (for example November 27) and athletes may sign up any time prior to that date. In other cases, athletes can sign up and expect to begin the program the Monday following their signup. In either case, you will receive your training plan on the Sunday before your start date via your TeamBuildr account.
Each day’s workout will be completely structured from the warmup, mobility, fitness and strength training and cool down. We provide example videos for exercises and circuits so you’ll know exactly what we want and can move through the workout efficiently.
We have several layers of individualization within each of our programs. Some programs have more individualization than others and this is reflected in the price of the program. Individualization occurs as a result of the following (not all apply to all programs):
- Tests and assessments that guide and drive subsequent training
- Percentage based loading in the weight room
- Programmed auto-regulation and autonomy of the program
- Weekly checkins with your coach. Your coach will provide video analysis, feedback, tips, and substitutes when necessary
- Private Facebook group support
The jumps program is specifically designed for athletes who want to jump higher.
